What is Bowen therapy?
Bowen therapy is by far the most effective treatment I have seen work time and time again for chronic pain. This beautiful hands-on combination of eastern and western medicine is non-invasive and extremely effective. The therapy consists of “bowen moves” that are subtle and precise movements over muscles, tendons, nerves, and fascia. These moves send parasympathetic signals to the brain, which tell the body to relax and ultimately bring the body back to homeostasis. In other words...Bowen therapy is like pressing reset buttons all over the body.
What does Bowen therapy treat?
- Musculoskeletal problems: Chronic pain such as frozen shoulder, back and neck pain, scoliosis, knee and elbow pain, wrist and ankle pain, bunions, TMJ…
- Misc: Headaches, asthma, digestive issues, infertility, trapped emotions, insomnia
What to expect:
Each session is approximately 30 minutes. The Bowen practitioner will perform 1-3 “Bowen moves” then allow time for nervous system integration before performing more moves. Every patient’s body responds differently. Common responses include tingling, pulsing, twitching, and muscle spasms during and/or following the treatment. The majority of patients leave treatments extremely relaxed as a result of parasympathetic signals.
What to wear/bring:
Athletic pants and a loose t-shirt
