Other than that, today we made it to Mount Everest Base Camp! It was a rough journey filled with two avalanches (one of which we saw, the other we just heard).
When we finally reached the top, I was not overjoyed like the other 10 people who had survived the climb already. Instead, as I looked out at the sun rising behind Everest and the rest of the mountain range, I did everything I could to hold back tears. I had hit my limit. I wanted nothing more than to go home and snuggle into my parents warm arms. But instead I was surrounded by people with frozen water bottles, rock solid granola bars, and icicles of snot. I was able to take one picture with my phone before it shut down due to the cold…which was fine by me because my fingers could barely move to take the picture anyways.
