On Saturday, a big group of us went on a “relaxing” trip to a waterfall up North. We met at 6:45 and waited outside the port gate for our taxi that was supposed to arrive at 7:00. But, as we have realized through several experiences…Africa time is very lenient. So, due to the fact that our driver was on “Africa time”, we ended up leaving a little after 8:00. Along with the delayed send-off, we managed to squish 18 people in a 15 passenger van:

The estimated 2.5 hour trip up to the waterfall ended up taking about 3.5 hours…and even though it was a fairly uncomfortable ride, North Togo is gorgeous so I didn’t mind looking out the window and seeing GREEN. Plus, unlike Lome (the city we are docked at), the North has fresh air & we all took in as many deep breaths as we could.
Other than a few random guys who followed us to the fall in order to sell us stuff, we basically had the place to ourselves. We were all hiding behind rocks and making changing stations out of towels for each other in order to change, but boy did the cold water after a sweat drenching hike feel amazing!
Here’s our group hiking down to the water fall (we had to climb back up this too!):

And here we are enjoying the cool water:

It was a fun day : )
