I got to go to a local church today! It was an Assembly of God church that one of the ladies on the ship, who is originally from Togo, goes to.
We all met in the cafe at 6:40am and headed off in three Mercy Ship Land Rovers. Within twenty minutes, we arrived at the church…which was surprisingly big. When we walked into the church, we were immediately led to the front row. I’m not sure why, but basically every church that I’ve been too, I’ve ended up in the front row. I guess it’s good, because with church services that can last for half the day, you feel more obligated to stay awake if you’re in the front row ; )
Thankfully this church service didn’t last for half the day, only 2 hours. And the day volunteer named Antoine that I worked with in the Dining Hall during the Benin outreach was there! He has moved to Benin and will be working on board again! Guess my nickname of “Chelsea da winner” has followed me to Togo.
