Oh wow. Last night and today we hit HUGE swells…which caused a lot of damage. To start it off, as soon as we turned the lights off last night, our whole night stand and all the drawers fell over:
And once morning came, we found the ship shop looking like this:
Once we cleaned up the mess in the ship shop, my workmate Tim and I were sent to help Sam because apparently a lot of food items had fallen down in the store rooms. And boy was it a mess! Just walking to the room, we saw this in the hallway:
Yes. That’s milk coming out from underneath the door. We attempted to open the door and found crates of milk that had taken a tumble during the rough night:
We couldn’t actually open the door all the way, because milk cartons were all in the way. Broken ones and savable ones. In order to even get into the room, we had to climb on top of the milk! Tim actually stepped on one and it squirted all over his leg. :
In the back of the room, we found more mess:
In the midst of everything that had fallen over, one cup managed to stay untouched. Sam’s pointing at it…we found it humorous : ) :
So, our main job was to clean up the milk to avoid an even bigger problem…mold. We went about this big milky problem using several steps which would probably bore you, so I’m not going to go into much detail. But in the end, we had so much extra single carton milks that we had to make an announcement over the loud speakers for crew to come get as much free milk as their hearts desired. Pretty soon we had a line of people coming to get milk, and we were more than happy to give it away!
I can’t believe we did it…but with about 4 of us, we managed to clean up the mess. The floor that was covered in rice, beans, milk, half emptied milk cartons & soiled cardboard, is now freshly mopped, dried and fully accessible. Whoa. And this all happened BEFORE lunch!
