Yesterday afternoon we saw tons of dolphins! While on the bow, two dolphins came to the front of the ship and swam right in front of us. There were also dolphins in every direction we looked, and after the two dolphins left, FOUR more came and swam with us! It was surreal.
Usually, Marcin (our 1st Officer) makes an announcement saying which side of the boat the wildlife is on & the entire crew goes running to either port side or starboard side. But yesterday afternoon, he came over the loud speakers and said in his really cool accent, “basically…dolphins all ova tha blace.”
(Thanks for the pictures Ali)
Our captain had warned the crew that the sea may get a little rough. And boy did it. All night long I heard stuff falling over both in our room and the dining hall above me. But at 3:00 in the morning, there was a huge bang in our room! I turned on the light and said to all my roommates, “Ok everyone up! Time to secure the cabin.”
So at 3:00 in the morning, we were looking at the damage that had been done and securing everything we could. A bunk bed ladder had fallen over, all of our shampoos were sprawled out across the bathroom floors, drawers were basically out of the dressers, and we had to magnet the curtains to the wall so they would stop sliding. Then we went back to sleep in hopes that nothing would break…and as far as I could tell from this morning, we did a pretty good job securing the cabin while half asleep.
The rest of the ship had it’s troubles too. Apparently the entire bread machine fell over last night along with several other things. But as far as I know, no one injured themselves by falling out of their bed…so that’s good news : )
