This afternoon, my 18 year old roommates, Kendall, Michelle & I all walked to the hospitality center. We spent our time in the room where the patients stay (either before or after surgery):
The guys loved loved loved taking pictures with us and our sunglasses. They all got a kick out of our goofy poses. In this picture, Fedna and I are in the middle of the Benin handshake.
This little girl has been at the hospitality center for 8 months & finally gets to have surgery on her cleft lip & palette on Monday! She’s been there so long because they had to fatten her up before the surgery. The majority of the cleft palette patients are extremely malnourished since it’s difficult for them to eat as babies, so it is necessary to get them healthy before the procedure, or else things just go downhill from there. Unfortunately, we’ve lost several cleft palette babies due to malnourishment. This little 3 month old girl should be just fine : )
