The costume dance party was just as good, if not better, than the one we had last month. My friends back home may have called it a “Halloween party”, but on the ship, some cultures find Halloween a disgraceful holiday. So, to get around that, we simply called it a costume party.
Once again, Bonny Jean and I worked the Saturday of the dance, so we were fashionably late. And when I say fashionably, I mean really fashionably : ) While some girls dressed up as cute gypsies, princesses or the classic bookworm…Bonny Jean dressed up as a Mexican cowboy and I dressed up as a thug.
For Bonny Jean’s costume, we found a HUGE Mexican sombrero in the boutique (a shop on deck two where the crew can drop off clothes or get 3 items for free). For my costume, I made a chain and a grill for my teeth out of tin foil in the galley along with the words “THUG LIFE” across my fists. Honestly, I looked like my brother Ryan. Not because he dresses like a thug, just because I looked like a boy. I was self conscious at first, but the reactions I got were priceless and almost everyone was dressed up in out of this world costumes.
