So as many of you know, I traveled to Ghana over this past weekend. We left early Friday morning and arrived back on the ship late Monday night. I had been told by several crew members that Ghana is the “Promise Land” of Africa…and I got to see it with my very own eyes!
A group of 11 of us crew members traveled together. After traveling for 10 hours there and 10 hours back, as well as driving ALL OVER the country, we got very close (literally). Our 16 passenger van that comfortably held 11 people to and from Ghana, held approximately 16 passengers while traveling to the different sites in Ghana. This is because we picked up a man named Prince who previously had surgery on the ship & was more than happy to show us around his beautiful country…along with his wife and 3 siblings. They are a great family! And without them, finding our way to the most beautiful places in Ghana would have been extremely difficult.
The Canopy walk! During our second and last day in Ghana, we travelled to the Canopy Forest. To explain it best, it’s 7 rope bridges that connect from one tree to another. We all got to walk above the rain forest on rope bridges! Some people looked like they would wet themselves at any moment, then other people (like us four 18 year olds) tried to walk across some of the bridges with no hands. What a thrill.
